"The Bare Essentials of Museums"
Introduction to Museum Work

This program offers an entry-level museum training course for use by museum workers, volunteers and seasonal guides. “The Bare Essentials of Museums” has 6 modules offering a multi-media training experience for those interested in learning more about museums and their operation. Each module provides a “test yourself” component which will help you gauge how well the material has been understood.

The content found within this site has been developed by the Community Museums Association with the assistance of the Heritage Network Atlantic partners which consist of the Museum Associations of the Atlantic region. Other contributors have supported the project by providing access to relevant materials. For example, video excerpts taken from the video series, Preventive Conservation have been produced by the Canadian Conservation Institute and the University of Quebec in Montreal. This series is available for purchase through the University. We are pleased to make the excerpts used available free from this sample page.
