"The
Bare Essentials of Museums"
Introduction to Museum Work
This
program offers an entry-level museum training course for
use by museum workers, volunteers and seasonal guides. “The Bare Essentials of Museums”
has 6 modules offering a multi-media training experience
for those interested in learning more about museums and
their operation. Each module provides a “test yourself”
component which will help you gauge how well the material
has been understood.
The
content found within this site has been developed by the
Community Museums Association with the assistance of the
Heritage Network Atlantic partners which consist of the
Museum Associations of the Atlantic region. Other contributors
have supported the project by providing access to relevant
materials. For example, video excerpts taken from the video
series, Preventive Conservation have been produced by the
Canadian Conservation Institute and the University of Quebec
in Montreal. This series is available for purchase through
the University. We are pleased to make the excerpts used
available free from this sample page.

We
will be using multi-media technology in many of the modules
and it will be necessary for you to have the proper software
and plug-ins installed on your system. Plug-ins include:
Flash, Shockwave, Quicktime, and Real Player Click

To access the site you will require

To obtain a password you will need to purchase access to
the program. The program fee ranges from $65.00 to $125
